And now the time has come to say good-bye…

…to the FIRST MONTH OF FEMINIST SUMMER BOOK CLUB!

We’ve read hooks, Crenshaw, McIntosh, and Alexander-Floyd, and spent the last month (hopefully) mulling over what these texts say about intersectionality and (most importantly) what they mean to us in our own lives.

As we gear up for the second month of book club, I invite you to visit our Goodreads discussion group to share your reflections and to submit them here!

The question I most want to know is… what, if anything, did the reading you were able to do for this month add to your own understanding of yourself as a feminist, and what can you take away from these texts and apply in your life?

And now, as I leave to join Annie’s List for political campaign school and leap into the political whirlwind, I pass on the reigns to thebathroomsguy and teaandbiscuitsfeminism for the next two months of book club.

Have a fierce, feminist summer y’all!

Q
ah, how did i not know about this? Is it too late to join?
A

Of course it isn’t! It’s a totally informal book club that we put together just to facilitate conversation between tumbling feminists around a feminist summer reading list. We’d love you to join! :) I’m covering the first month on intersectionality (reading list here) and thebathroomsguy and teaandbiscuitsfeminism will be taking up the next two months on Queer and Trans* Feminisms and Representation and Feminism. (The tentative full summer list is available here.) We’re using this tumblr’s ask and submit options and a Goodreads group to facilitate discussion.

Yay feminist summer book club!

Hello again bookclubbers!

I apologize for the lack of posts, but I assume everyone is busy enjoying the summer time and reading the book and articles on our reading list for the first month of Feminist Summer Book Club! (Just a reminder, the reading list for the first month is available online here, and stable links to all four documents for the first list are also available here!)

I have been recovering from getting my wisdom teeth out but am back today to say this is the LAST WEEK of the first month of FSBC, so get to reading! :)

I’ve already posted some basic questions in the discussions section of our Goodreads group, which everyone who is a member of the group should be able to reply to.

Also, the submit and ask options for this blog are up and running, so please feel free to submit questions, thoughts, reflections, and comments as they come to you (via text, video, haiku, artwork, whatever) about any or all of our reading material and we’ll get it out so everyone can see.

Happy Thursday!

“Feminism is for Everybody”? Tell me more, bell hooks!

“Feminism is for Everybody”? Tell me more, bell hooks!

My copy of “Feminism is for Everybody” just arrived through inter library loan!

Turns out #FSBC is already trending on twitter, but it’s about a summer mission trip for some Christian folks.

On tumblr, however, #FSBC is all us.

I track it! So should you!
